🇺🇸Times Square Evacuated After Suspicious Package Found Near NYPD Station

On Monday morning, August 18, 2025, Times Square was temporarily evacuated following the discovery of a suspicious cylindrical device outside the NYPD precinct at 43rd Street and Seventh Avenue. The NYPD bomb squad responded promptly, leading to the closure of the area between 42nd and 44th Streets. Subway service at the 42nd Street Times Square station was also cleared as a precaution, though train operations continued without disruption. Around noon, authorities determined the package posed no threat, and the area was reopened to the public. A 26-year-old man from the Bronx was arrested and charged with placing a false bomb and reckless endangerment .
