The Japanese investment company Metaplanet has strengthened its position as one of the largest corporate holders of Bitcoin, announcing the accumulation of 18,888 $BTC worth approximately $2.18 billion. On August 18, 2025, CEO Simon Gerovich reported the acquisition of an additional 775 BTC for $93 million at an average price of $120,006 per coin. Metaplanet's total investments in Bitcoin have reached $1.94 billion with an average purchase price of $102,653 per BTC. According to BitcoinTreasuries, the company ranks seventh among corporate Bitcoin holders in the world.

The active accumulation strategy, initiated in April 2024, reflects Metaplanet's optimistic view on Bitcoin despite market volatility. In 2025, the company reported an impressive annual return on Bitcoin of 480.2%. Its assets exceed liabilities of $120 million by 18.67 times. Financial results for Q2 2025 showed a revenue increase of 41% to 1.2 billion yen ($8.4 million) and a net profit of 11.1 billion yen ($75.1 million), marking a significant improvement compared to losses in Q1.

Analysts believe that Metaplanet's actions may inspire other Asian companies to use Bitcoin as a reserve asset. Despite a recent 8.6% drop in stock, the firm remains attractive to investors.
