Yeah, can you imagine this happening?🙄
You work hard, and that's it... trash🤔
IT engineer James Howells from Newport has ended his 12-year search for a hard drive containing 8,000 bitcoins, which ended up in a landfill in 2013. At that time, the contents of the hard drive were valued at $600,000, but the price of bitcoin has been rising every year. Now 8,000 bitcoins $BTC are worth about $915 million.
It's tempting to dream about what you could afford with it... oh James 😂
So the story goes like this, 😊 a 39-year-old man started mining in 2008, extracting between 400 and 800 BTC on a Dell XPS laptop. By 2009, he was among the first five bitcoin miners. Over the years, more than 32 KB of encrypted private keys accumulated on the laptop. And now, according to the IT specialist, his ex-girlfriend threw away the trash and included the HDD.
Despite numerous attempts, access to and recovery of the device was unsuccessful. In the end, Howells concluded that the information on the hard drive was already impossible to restore.
Howells' HDD was buried for over 12 years under 25,000 cubic meters of waste in the Newport landfill, through all seasons and different weather. According to local laws, everything in the landfill belongs to the city. Despite Howells' attempts to gain access to the dumpster through the courts, even to buy it, nothing worked. The landfill is being closed, and a power plant will be built in its place.
Such a sad yet funny story about $BTC
So don't lose your things and trade like it's the last time😁😁😁Good luck to everyone
