#UK Police Officer Jailed for Stealing Seized Bitcoin Worth IDR 92 Billion

Paul Chowles, an officer from the UK's National Crime Agency, has been sentenced to 5.5 years in prison after stealing 50 Bitcoins from seized criminal assets, valued at around IDR 92 billion (nearly £60,000). He accessed a digital wallet belonging to Thomas White, the creator of a dark web site that replaced Silk Road, who had previously been arrested and imprisoned.

Chowles transferred the Bitcoins through the dark web, splitting them into smaller amounts and moving them into multiple bank accounts. He is suspected of having spent approximately IDR 3.14 billion before being caught.
