PoAS/Proof-of -Archival-Storage has emerged as topics of interest to #AutonomysNetwork observers and makes the #SocialMining commitments of @DAO Labs in the #AutonomysHub . PoAS is a decentralized storage consensus as a part of the #AI3 architecture combining the characteristics of the eco-efficiency and archival reliability.
In essence, PoAS pays farmers to retain the exclusive pieces of history within the block chain and not unnecessary plots. This makes it necessary that all nodes contribute valid data and ensure that randomized audits and verifications of integrity are provided across the network. With KZG commitments and erasure coding, it is possible to make the data recoverable even in the face of nodes in the network going offline.
The given mechanism also speeds up the resolution to the existing operator dilemma known as the farmer dilemma in Proof-of-Capacity networks that creates a conflict between space utilization and long-term decentralization. PoAS decentralizes incentives-incentiving farmers to stay in full historical state so as to be eligible to receive block rewards
Furthermore, both consensus and execution are decoupled: computation is done by executor nodes, whereas storage and ordering transaction is done by farmers. This layout enables this network to extend horizontally and expand vertically without centralizing either the layer
To the Social Mining experts, PoAS means more than mere technical groundbreaking, but it is also a trust system. Nodes turn to living archives, thus allowing verifiable access to data and long-term resilience in the ecosystem. PoAS enables a groundwork platform to agentic dApps, off-chain archival, and long-term data trust as Autonomys develops.
