According to Bitcoin Indonesia, there was a recent meeting with government officials to discuss how to leverage Bitcoin to drive national economic growth.

On Monday, Bitcoin Indonesia stated on platform X: 'We were invited to the Vice President's office to present the potential benefits of Bitcoin.'

'We explored an bold idea: to use Bitcoin mining as a national reserve strategy.'

Indonesia is the world's fourth most populous country, with over 280 million people and a GDP of $1.4 trillion, making it the 16th largest economy globally.

Bitcoin mining and education are the focus.

The Bitcoin Indonesia speech mentioned how to utilize abundant hydro and geothermal resources to boost economic development, a strategy that has created numerous jobs in other countries.

Bitcoin Indonesia stated that this meeting was conducted with the special advisor to the Vice President's office, Gibraín Lakabmin Laká.

There were also mentions of Bitcoin price predictions, indicating its potential long-term growth has attracted countries like the United States to view it as a strategic reserve asset.

At the same time, they called for strengthening Bitcoin education to promote its adoption. A representative from the Indonesian Vice President's office also agreed, stating: 'Indonesia must continue to advance Bitcoin education.'

Indonesia recently issued anti-crypto policies.

Indonesia allows cryptocurrency trading but prohibits its use for payments. Last Friday, the Indonesian Ministry of Finance raised tax rates for crypto traders and miners.

Although the ban on crypto payments has been in place since 2017, enforcement seems to be lax. Local reporters discovered this year that real estate on Bali openly accepts Bitcoin.

The ban on crypto payments has not been widely enforced.
