The Ethereum Foundation introduces L1 scaling progress, revealing multiple important updates

The Ethereum Foundation recently announced that in the coming weeks it will publish updates on the progress of each workflow, including current progress, new initiatives, outstanding issues, and collaboration opportunities. Today, we first introduce the progress on scaling L1: 1. Marius van der Wijden, Ansgar Dietrichs, and Tim Beiko have been appointed as co-leads of the L1 scaling project; 2. The Gas limit for the Berlinterop post-mainnet has been increased to 45 million, marking the first step towards 100 million Gas and higher levels; 3. All major execution layer clients have deployed the historical data expiration feature before the merge, significantly reducing node disk usage; 4. Block-level access lists (BALs) are being considered as candidates for the Glamsterdam upgrade; 5. Work on computation and state benchmarking is progressing to better manage EVM resource pricing and performance bottlenecks; 6. Development of a ZK-based prover client prototype is underway, with the zkEVM real-time proof path gradually becoming clearer; 7. Continued recruitment for a Performance Engineering Lead, with the application deadline of August 10.
