According to Foresight News, BitMEX Research has discovered a carefully designed scam targeting Bitcoin users. Someone is using Bitcoin addresses from the 2010s to send transactions with OP_Return outputs, including the address 1Feex..., which had about 80,000 BTC stolen from Mt.Gox. The OP_Return information in these transactions points to a website that claims: 'This digital wallet seems to be lost or abandoned. Our clients have prescriptive possession of it and are seeking confirmation of whether there is a real owner.' The page then provides a form asking for personal details.
The investigation shows that the website has no real connection to the 1980s Wall Street giant 'Salomon Brothers'. The 'Advisory Committee' page listed real individuals who once worked at Salomon Brothers, but they are actually unrelated to this suspicious entity. BitMEX Research warns users not to fill out the forms on this website, as it is highly likely to be a data collection scam targeting cryptocurrency holders.
