🧠Topic: What is tokenomics with limited and unlimited #supply — and why "maximum 21M coins" doesn’t always mean growth@Cryptoland_88

🔢 Total Supply — this is the total number of tokens that can exist.

📌 It happens:

🔒 Limited supply (#capped) — the token has a maximum limit, above which there will be none (example: BTC = 21M)

🔓 Unlimited supply (uncapped) — the token can be issued indefinitely (example: ETH, DOGE)

🔒 Limited supply = deficit?

❌ Not always!

Important: what will happen to the token when it reaches the limit?

🔸 If the token is not needed — it simply won't be bought

🔸 If there is no demand — deficit does not work

🔸 If the project has no income — incentives for users disappear

🔸 If validators have nothing to pay with — the network suffers

🔓 Is unlimited = bad?

❌ Neither does this.

👉 Many top tokens have unlimited supply, but:

Emission = stable and predictable

There are burns or locks that balance out the growth

The project generates income and uses it wisely

Demand is growing faster than supply

💡 Comparison:

Token- $BTC Supply- Limited (21M) Emission- None after 2140 Balance mechanism- Deficit, halving

Token- $BNB Supply- Limited Emission- No emission Balance mechanism- Burning

Token- $ETH Supply- Unlimited Emission- Variable Balance mechanism- EIP-1559: gas burning

Token- #DOGE Supply- Unlimited Emission~5B per year Balance mechanism- No restrictions (inflation)

Token- #ATOM Supply- Unlimited Emission~10% per year Balance mechanism- High staking + utility

⚠️ Beginners' mistakes:

🚫 "Limited token = 🚀"

🚫 "Unlimited = scam"

🚫 "Only the number of coins matters"

✅ Important:

Demand and utility

How emission works

Who receives new tokens

How project revenues are distributed

🧠 Conclusion:

A limit on the number of tokens is not a guarantee of growth.

Without demand and real utility, even 21M "mega coins" are worth nothing.

But properly configured inflation can fuel the #DeFi ecosystem for years.
