🧠 Topic: What is halving, how it affects token prices (including BTC), and why you shouldn't expect pumps on schedule @Cryptoland_88
🪓 What is halving?
Halving (#Halving ) is an event coded in, where the reward for miners is cut in half.
This happens for BTC every 210,000 blocks ≈ 4 years:
Date Block Reward
2009 (genesis) 50 BTC
2012, 25 BTC
2016, 12.5 BTC
2020, 6.25 BTC
April 20, 2024, 3.125 BTC
✅ Result — the issuance rate falls, and each new bitcoin is 'mined' at a higher cost.
📈 Why can halving affect the price?
Supply Reduction
Fewer new BTC → potential scarcity.
Increase in mining cost
Miners need to sell less to break even.
Market Psychology
'Halving hype' attracts media and investors.
⚠️ Why 'pump by timer' is not guaranteed
Factor Why the scenario might fail
📊 Macroeconomics High rates, recession → risk-off.
🏦 Regulations Bans/taxes may reduce demand.
🐳 Whales Can buy in advance and sell 'on the news.'
🔄 Derivatives Short-/long-liquidations distort the chart.
👷♂️ Miners If the hash rate grows faster than the price, they are forced to sell more.
📌 Halving reduces the influx of new coins but does not change demand. Without demand, scarcity does not work.
💡 Other halvings
$LTC — every ~4 years (last: August 2023)
$BCH BSV — forks of BTC, similar cycle
$DASH — smooth 'mini-halving' every 210,240 blocks
#ETC — a 20% reward reduction every 5 million blocks
Not all coins see a price increase after halving — it's all about #utility and liquidity.
🧠 Conclusion
Halving makes bitcoin gradually deflationary, but the price depends on demand, macro factors, and the behavior of large players.
Use halving as a fundamental plus, not as a guarantee of 'x's.
📖 In the next issue, I will explain: What are market cycles (bull & bear), how to recognize them, and why it's important to have a strategy, not just guess the bottom.
