Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

The mentioned method is permissible in itself because the essence of the Walima tradition is fulfilled in this case. However, it is better if people conduct the marriage simply in the mosque and then, the day after the wedding, the groom's family can hold a Walima invitation in moderation according to their means; because in this case, the Walima will be performed in the best way and the common practice of inviting people for the wedding, which is not even a Sunnah, will gradually diminish and come to an end.

People should adopt simplicity in matters of marriage; avoid all forms of rituals, superstitions, and showmanship; because marriage in Islam is not merely a worldly affair; rather, it also has a worship aspect. Therefore, the simplicity established in marriages by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) should be adopted by the Ummah. We should strictly avoid extravagance, wasteful spending, elaborate invitations, dowries, and various ritual transactions, etc. May Allah grant us success.
