Block, Inc. will begin the implementation of accepting $BTC bitcoin payments through Square in the second half of 2025 with full deployment by 2026. This was announced by company representatives at the Bitcoin 2025 conference.

Purchases will be made through the Lightning Network. Sellers will have the option to either hold the received BTC or automatically convert it to fiat in real-time.

This initiative complements the existing automatic conversion feature to BTC and is accompanied by improvements in the Bitkey self-custodial wallet for user convenience. The retailer Stake n’ Shake has already noted a reduction in payment fees by half due to accepting bitcoin.$XRP $SOL
