Circle has frozen two wallets linked to the scandal surrounding the meme coin Libra, totaling approximately $57.6 million in USDC. This is indicated by Arkham data.
One wallet contained $44.6 million, while the other had about $13 million. It is unknown who specifically requested the freezing of the funds.
Let us recall that Libra is a crypto project supported by Argentine President Javier Milei. At one point, the capitalization of the coin soared to $2 billion, but then it collapsed by 90%. Following this, legal proceedings began against Milei and his associates. The president faces impeachment for promoting the crypto project, which caused investors to lose their money.
Currently, there are disputes over whose request Circle acted upon to decide to block the funds.
