Recently, the Bitcoin market has experienced significant fluctuations, with transaction value reaching its annual peak of over 25 billion dollars on May 18, attracting the attention of global investors.
According to blockchain data, on May 18, Bitcoin holders transferred over 367,000 Bitcoins on the blockchain, worth over 25 billion dollars at the time of the coin price, setting the highest record for Bitcoin transaction value since 2024. The last time such a large-scale Bitcoin transfer occurred was on June 13, 2022, when more than 519,000 Bitcoins were transferred. Although the number of transfers this time was lower than in 2022, the significant increase in Bitcoin's current price has pushed the transaction value to a new height. On May 18, the price of Bitcoin stabilized at around 69,374 dollars, a price level that drove the total transaction amount to approximately 25.5 billion dollars.
It is worth noting that while the transaction value soared to a new annual high, the number of Bitcoin transactions and trading volume remained stable. According to Ycharts, the total number of Bitcoin transactions on May 18 was 596,790, which is relatively normal compared to over 850,000 transactions on May 26 and over 700,000 transactions on May 29. Additionally, the blockchain showed that the Bitcoin trading volume on cryptocurrency exchanges that day was 200 million dollars, without any unusual fluctuations.
Trading analyst Peter Brandt recently predicted that Bitcoin could reach 130,000 dollars in 2025. Brandt pointed out that the current bullish trend of Bitcoin is similar to past market performances following halving cycles. According to his analysis, if Bitcoin continues its previous trend, the price may climb to between 130,000 and 150,000 dollars in August or September 2025. Brandt emphasized that, based on historical data, Bitcoin halving dates usually occur in the middle period between the start and peak of a bull market. For example, in the 2020 halving, the last bull market started 16 months before the halving and ended 18 months after.
