The Ripple Whales in 2025
At the time of writing this note, the price of XRP is $2.42 per token. This translates to a -1.62% in the last 24 hours. Despite this setback, analysts expect the currency to have bullish movements in the short term thanks to the whales.
In particular, during the last hours, two whales moved an amount of tokens equivalent to $300 million, according to Whale Alert. The transactions were made in two directions, one towards accumulation wallets from exchanges and the other in the opposite direction. This suggests that the first has bullish content and the second bearish.
However, the first of these transactions (the bullish one) was much larger. In this sending towards long-term accumulation, 94.3 million XRP were counted, which is equivalent to about $232 million. In the bearish transaction, 29.57 million XRP were moved to Coinbase. It is worth mentioning that sends to exchanges are assumed to be bearish, but these do not always end in sales.
According to data from Glassnode, the number of Ripple whales has experienced a sharp growth from December 2024 to early May 2025. During that period, the number of wallets with 10,000 XRP or more rose from 281,000 to 300,000. This suggests that the number of large investors capable of influencing the price of the token is increasing.
