India has become the world's third-largest producer of electricity from wind and solar energy by overtaking Germany. Now, only China and America are ahead of India in this sector. The recently released sixth report of the global energy think tank 'Embers Global Electricity Review' states that 15 percent of electricity has been produced from wind and solar energy globally, in which India's share has been 10 percent at the global level. Of the electricity produced from clean sources in India, 8% is hydropower, and 10% is wind and solar energy. India has added 24 gigawatts of solar capacity in the year 2024, which is more than double compared to 2023.
