#AbuDhabiStablecoin A trio of important institutions from Abu Dhabi, including the emirate's sovereign fund, have come together to launch a new stablecoin linked to the dirham.
The Abu Dhabi sovereign fund ADQ, the largest bank in the United Arab Emirates, First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), and the huge conglomerate International Holding Company, have partnered to launch the stablecoin, pending regulatory approval, the three companies stated on April 28.
The trio asserted that the stablecoin would be regulated by the UAE central bank and backed by the country's currency, the dirham. It will also support use cases such as machine-to-machine and artificial intelligence.

Arizona's effort to become a pioneer
If SB1025 becomes law, Arizona would become the first state in the U.S. to officially allow public funds to be invested in Bitcoin. This could set an important precedent for other states considering similar measures. The approval of the bill by the Arizona Senate Finance Committee comes after a previous attempt by Wendy Rogers in 2022 to legalize Bitcoin, which ultimately failed.
Despite the promising vote, the bill still faces several hurdles before becoming law. After its approval by the Senate Finance Committee, it will move to the Senate Rules Committee, where it will undergo further review. If the committee approves it, it will be presented to the full Arizona State Senate for a vote, and if approved, it will move to the House of Representatives for final approval.
