Peirce, the task force collaborates with SEC staff and the public to address regulatory challenges associated with digital assets, including cryptocurrencies, coins, tokens, and related protocols.
On March 21, 2025, the Crypto Task Force hosted its inaugural roundtable titled "How We Got Here and How We Get Out – Defining Security Status." The event brought together industry experts, legal professionals, and policymakers to discuss the complexities of classifying crypto assets under federal securities laws. Participants included John Reed Stark, former chief of the SEC's Office of Internet Enforcement; Miles Jennings, general counsel for a16z crypto; and former SEC Commissioner Troy Paredes.
This roundtable is part of a series aimed at engaging with industry and subject matter experts to develop clear regulatory guidelines for crypto assets. The discussions focus on distinguishing between securities and non-securities, crafting tailored disclosure frameworks, and ensuring that investors have the necessary information to make informed decisions.
