On December 13, 2011, a poor fellow set the record for the highest miner fee ever! This guy wanted to transfer 207.57 BTC, but the receiving address only got 35.77 BTC, and the remaining 171.79869184 BTC was taken by the miner!!!
The fee rate skyrocketed to 20,748,634 sat/vB, and just looking at that number is enough to make your scalp tingle 🤯
At that time, this transaction fee was worth $558.53, sounds okay, right? But based on today’s prices, this fee is worth about $20 million!!! Oh my God, think of the psychological trauma this must have caused.
Imagine how that user felt, wanting to transfer some coins, but most of the money went to the miners. This is even more thrilling than winning the lottery, just in a reverse way.
