For the past three months, Trump has been talking about rate cuts. Many crypto enthusiasts assumed that the moment a cut came, portfolios would surge and profits would roll in. Similar promises were made during his presidency, which created unrealistic expectations that “a big pump is guaranteed.”

Fast forward to Powell’s speech on August 22, where he hinted at possible cuts in September. The market reacted sharply: Ethereum spiked from 4046 to 4955, hitting a new ATH, and excitement spread. But within a day of consolidation, $ETH fell back near 4350 and the market followed.
