NERUDA: POEM 15 I like you when you are silent because you are as if absent, and you hear me from afar, and my voice does not touch you. It seems that your eyes have flown away and it seems that a kiss has closed your mouth.
As all things are full of my soul you emerge from things, full of my soul. Butterfly of sleep, you resemble my soul, and you resemble the word melancholy.
I like you when you are silent and you are as if distant. And you are as if complaining, butterfly in cooing. And you hear me from afar, and my voice does not reach you: let me be silent with your silence.
Let me speak to you also with your silence clear as a lamp, simple as a ring. You are like the night, silent and constellated. Your silence is of a star, so distant and simple.
I like you when you are silent because you are as if absent. Distant and painful as if you had died. One word then, one smile is enough. And I am glad, glad that it is not true.
SPAIN READIES REGULATION FOR CRYPTOASSETS AND GETS AHEAD OF THE EUROPEAN UNION 🇪🇦Spain is preparing to take a key step in the regulation of cryptocurrencies. The Council of Ministers is moving forward with the transposition of the European directive DAC8, which, when approved, will change the rules for tax cooperation between countries. One of the most relevant points is that the OECD's framework for the exchange of information on cryptoassets will be integrated into European Union legislation. This could give the Tax Agency (AEAT) more tools to control cryptocurrencies abroad and even carry out seizures in certain cases. Currently, the Treasury can seize cryptocurrencies like any other asset, although the challenge is to link them to the debtor and execute the seizure through platforms. With DAC8, control and communication between exchanges will be improved, facilitating the identification of cryptoassets and the automatic exchange of information between EU tax authorities, say Javier Ortega and Mª José García-Serrano, partners in the tax department of the law firm Montero Aramburu Gómez-Villares Atencia. EU member states are obliged to implement the main rules of DAC8 in their national legislation by December 31, 2025, and the provisions will begin to apply from January 1, 2026, says Javier García de la Torre, director of Binance Spain and Portugal. “Some EU countries are already working on the implementation of these measures,” says García de la Torre. For cryptocurrency exchange platforms like Binance, the legislative change will imply different requirements for reporting information to the AEAT, he says. "Communication with the tax authorities is fluid and we are committed to complying with all current regulations to ensure a transparent and legally compliant operation," adds García de la Torre. #españa #bitcoin #eth #binance
Cryptocurrencies have a negative impact on the environment due to the high energy consumption required for their mining. However, they also have the potential to provide environmental benefits, such as: Reduced carbon emissions: Cryptocurrencies that use more efficient mining algorithms can reduce energy consumption and therefore carbon emissions. For example, the Ethereum cryptocurrency is migrating from a proof-of-work (PoW) algorithm to a proof-of-stake (PoS) algorithm, which could reduce its carbon footprint by 99%.
One of the firms analyzed is GO4REX, which has 64 complaints between 2022 and 2024. This firm, says the PDI, encourages people to invest by offering promises of profits through investments in companies such as SQM or Codelco (in the latter, there is not even the possibility of investing, since it is state-owned). “This platform operates outside of those regulated by the CMF. In addition, its operations are generally carried out abroad. To carry out this illicit activity, it is necessary to have intermediaries in the country,” the report highlights.
MILEI'S COLLAPSE 🇦🇷 The hard number that explains why Milei's economy is having a hard time getting going Official data processed by private sources show a drama that could not have hit rock bottom Since 2017, Argentines' wallets have not stopped creaking It is an adjustment on top of an adjustment. And that is why the economy is having a hard time showing a firm recovery, despite the lukewarm rebound that some wallets are showing. Not all of them, of course. The income of both the employed and the salaried fell more than 7% in real terms –considering the inflation of the period– in the first half, the first six months of Javier Milei's government, according to official data. But the impact of this decrease in purchasing power is greater because, from mid-2017 –before the exchange rate race began in Mauricio Macri's government– until now, those same incomes showed a collapse of more than 30%. This is the conclusion of a study by the consulting firm ExQuanti based on data from the Income Distribution Evolution report published by Indec today for the second quarter. The report also indicates that among the strata that suffered the most from the impact of the price increase after the depreciation of the currency and the adjustments of other relative prices – in addition to the dollar – are the lowest segments of society. This also explains, in part, the increase of more than ten points in poverty in the first half of the year. It reached 52.9% and affected more than 25 million Argentines.
SERNAC SUES WORLDCOIN FOR ILLEGAL BIOMETRIC COLLECTION
Grupo Optimistic SpA risks fines of up to $60 million.
After an intense investigation into Worldcoin, a company dedicated to scanning people's irises in exchange for money, the National Consumer Service (Sernac) officially sued the company for the improper collection of people's biometric data.
Likewise, Sernac comments through a statement that "a series of irregularities were detected in the collection of biometric data from natural persons, without having adequately informed about the use and treatment of said information."
Given the formal presentation of the complaint to Grupo Optimistic SpA, the company risks fines that can reach $20 million pesos for each case, which would exceed $60 million pesos.
In addition, Sernac will also request the end of this conduct and the suspension of operations until these actions are resolved judicially.
Key points of the complaint Biometric data collection: “Using devices called “Orb” installed in public places, people have been encouraged to scan their irises in exchange for cryptocurrencies, without transparently reporting the future uses of this data.”
Fraud of consumer rights: “The complaint highlights that the company has not provided sufficient information to consumers about the purposes of storing their biometric data, the possible risks and the foreign entities that could have access to this information.”
THE MIRACLE OF THE DESERT 🇨🇱Who would imagine flowers in a desert landscape? And not just any desert, but the driest non-polar desert on planet Earth. This peculiar phenomenon that occurs in Atacama, Chile, is known as the Flowering Desert, and it offers the most fascinating images. The Flowering Desert phenomenon Different types of flowers in the Atacama Desert
What is the Flowering Desert? This phenomenon occurs every 5 or 10 years and consists of the appearance of more than 200 species of flowers and plants in the soils of the Atacama Desert. The seeds that are found underground germinate and bloom on certain occasions: when there is heavy rain (at least 15mm is needed for the shoots to grow) and the absence of frost. Curiously, in 2022 Atacama bloomed for the second consecutive year. This event benefits the local fauna, causing the appearance of numerous animals in the area in search of food. Environmental researchers say that climate change is contributing to this phenomenon becoming more frequent. #binance #bnb #travel
2036 SANTIAGO OLYMPIC GAMES? 🇨🇱 After the meetings held in the French capital a month ago, the Chilean authorities are waiting for the communication from the IOC for the advancement of the application. Chile hopes to strengthen its candidacy as the host of the 2036 Olympic Games and offer guarantees to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) of a “state commitment” for its organization, said in an interview with EFE the Chilean Minister of Sports, Jaime Pizarro. “The State is the guarantor of fulfilling the development or organization of infrastructure or coordination spaces, so that this actually materializes in a good way,” said Pizarro. The minister exemplified it with the past Pan American Games that they hosted and that “started in 2017 and there were three governments that worked consecutively and constantly to reach 2023. It is the sign that one can establish as a commitment of Status” #binance #btc #eth #inversion
I can write the saddest verses tonight. Write, for example: "The night is starry, and the stars shiver, blue, in the distance." The night wind spins in the sky and sings. I can write the saddest verses tonight. I loved her, and sometimes she loved me too. On nights like this I held her in my arms. I kissed her so many times under the infinite sky. She loved me, sometimes I loved her too. How could I not have loved her big, fixed eyes. I can write the saddest verses tonight. To think that I don't have her. To feel that I have lost her. To hear the immense night, more immense without her. And the verse falls to the soul like dew on grass. What does it matter that my love could not keep her. The night is starry and she is not with me. That is all. In the distance someone sings. In the distance My soul is not content with having lost her. As if to bring her closer, my gaze seeks her. My heart seeks her, and she is not with me. The same night that makes the same trees whiten. We, those of then, are no longer the same. I no longer love her, it is true, but how much I loved her. My voice sought the wind to touch her ear. From another. It will be from another. As before my kisses. Her voice, her clear body. Her infinite eyes. I no longer love her, it is true, but perhaps I love her. Love is so short, and oblivion is so long. Because on nights like this I held her in my arms, my soul is not content with having lost her. Even if this is the last pain she causes me, and these are the last verses I write to her.
Enap awards construction contract for its first green hydrogen plant
The National Petroleum Company (Enap) announced that the German Neuman & Esser will be in charge of building the plant where the state-owned company will produce green hydrogen, projected to start production in 2025.
In January 2023, the company had already announced the start of its own green hydrogen project in Magallanes.
The plant will be powered by the Vientos Patagónicos wind farm ─of which Enap is the majority shareholder─ and will have a capacity of 1 MW (1,000 kW), which will be used for vehicle charging stations and to feed the furnace of the fractionation plant in Magallanes, among other applications.
With the construction of this plant, Enap hopes to generate knowledge and experience in the production and use of this energy in the Magallanes region, as part of its strategy for the development of new fuels
🇨🇱 Despite the high volatility, many employees have started to receive part of their remuneration in digital currencies. This poses a tax and practical challenge. Is it worth it? Yes, there are people in Chile who receive “cryptosalaries”, that is, remuneration (total or partial) in digital currencies. This is a trend that is growing especially among workers who reside in other parts of the world and who distrust certain traditional currencies, especially those that have lost value in recent years. Although experts warn that the risk is still very high - due to the high volatility of cryptoassets - it is a phenomenon that is growing in Latin America, especially in countries with a strong link to digital currencies, such as Argentina or Venezuela. But it is also a global boom: last year, various athletes and politicians made news who began receiving a "crypto" transfer at the end of the month: Golden State Warriors players Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala, and New York Mayor Eric Adams. In Latin America, the trend is also real, especially due to the increase in international hiring, which grew 3,300% in the last year according to the company Deel, which specializes in hiring professionals abroad. In fact, according to the same firm, since November 2020 there has been a 10% monthly increase in the demand for this type of remuneration. Is it worth opting for a “crypto salary”? “The ideal is to immediately change it to a traditional currency or keep it in digital currency. If we stay in a crypto, the best option will always be to favor stable currencies (stablecoins), which are linked to a known value such as the dollar or a fiduciary currency of a country,” says Cristóbal Pereira, CEO of LatAmTech Finance, who recommends USDT, USDC, DAI, among others.
Chile and lithium: an opportunity for a leap towards development?
🇨🇱The Chilean Government presented the National Lithium Strategy, an ambitious plan that invites both private and public actors to participate, but controlled by a state company. The discussion is open lithium in Chile. The president of Chile, Gabriel Boric, announced the so-called National Lithium Strategy, an ambitious bet that includes the creation of a company fully controlled by the State, but that invites public-private participation. The initiative seeks to promote scientific and research development to give added value to lithium products, as well as guarantee the lowest environmental impact, and integrate the communities and indigenous peoples of the area. The idea, according to Boric, is to position Chile as "the main producer of lithium in the world." Chile, facing a great opportunity lithium is an essential mineral for manufacturing energy storage batteries, for example, for electric cars or buses. Its demand has increased significantly in recent years because it is presented as a key alternative to overcome dependence on fossil fuels and to combat the climate crisis. Chile has one of the largest lithium reserves in the world, and is the second largest producer on the planet, behind Australia, with 39,000 metric tons in 2022. The country, recognized for its copper activity, is emerging internationally as a producer of green hydrogen and wind and solar energy.
🇨🇱 The pudú is the smallest of the American deer. Its size is 40 cms. tall and its weight is approximately 10 kgs. Its color varies from reddish brown to yellowish gray, the first being the most common. Of the two species of pudúes that exist, only one of them lives in Chile. This animal is characterized by being very shy and fearful. It only comes out at night in search of food. Although its greatest natural enemy is the puma, its indiscriminate hunting has turned it into a species with serious risk of extinction.
It is intermittently visible from Curicó to the Biobío Region, and continuously from the Araucanía Region to Aysén. However, it is abundant only on the Island of Chiloé. It lives in very dense forests and thickets, from sea level to 1,800 meters.

🇨🇱 Construction of the world's largest telescope is underway
Chile is home to the ELT project, the largest terrestrial telescope, which promises to explore black holes and the first galaxies
The Atacama Desert is revealed as the ideal setting for the construction of the Extremely Large Telescope (ESO) The Atacama Desert is revealed as the ideal setting for the construction of the Extremely Large Telescope (ESO) In the Atacama Desert in northern Chile, an ambitious project is underway that could revolutionize astronomy: the construction of the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT). This colossal instrument, known as “the world's largest eye on the sky,” is part of the European Southern Observatory (ESO), an organization that includes 16 European countries among its members, as well as Australia as a strategic partner and Chile as a host country. The ELT aims to explore the mysteries of the universe, and operations are expected to begin in 2028.
The ELT will be equipped with a primary mirror 39 metres in diameter, making it the largest ground-based telescope in the world in visible and infrared light. Astronomer and ESO representative in Chile, Dr. Luis Chavarría, says that the ELT's operations could represent a paradigm shift in our perception of the universe, comparing this achievement to that of Galileo 400 years ago. “It will take us beyond what we have ever seen before” he said
