European leaders are set to join my call with Zelenskyy and Trump this Wednesday, Germany has confirmed.
Earlier, I expressed some frustration with the Ukrainian president and pushed for a direct ZelenskyyโPutin meeting during a press conference.
I told everyone that my upcoming meeting with Putin is going to be more of a โfeel-outโ session, but I believe he wants to get this over with. Iโll be telling him directly: โYouโve got to end this war. Youโve got to end it.โ
Iโm hoping for a constructive conversation. Right after leaving that meetingโmaybe even while Iโm flying out or stepping out of the roomโIโll be calling European leaders to brief them. Iโve got great relationships with all of them, and I also get along with Zelenskyy, but I strongly disagree with what heโs done. This war should have never happened.
My next goal is to bring Zelenskyy and Putin together for talks, and Iโll be there if needed.
I was a bit annoyed when Zelenskyy said he needs constitutional approval for certain decisions. Heโs got approval to go into war and fight, but he needs approval to make a land swap? There will be some land swapping involvedโgood things for Ukraine, some bad things for both sidesโitโs complicated. The borders are uneven, so swaps will have to happen.
