#FRANCE 🇫🇷 : DOCUMENTS FOUND IN GAZA TALK ABOUT SECRET MEETINGS BETWEEN FRANCE AND HAMAS.
According to Israeli media, papers discovered in Gaza would show that France had secret contacts with Hamas, a group considered terrorist by several countries, including Israel and the United States. These documents, revealed by an Israeli channel, discuss a meeting that allegedly took place in October 2020 in Qatar between French representatives and Hamas leaders.
This information comes at a time when France and Israel are not in agreement. Emmanuel Macron indeed announced that he wanted to recognize a Palestinian state in the near future, a decision that is not at all liked by Israel.
According to these papers, the French would have said that they have supported "the Palestinian cause" for a long time, even though they usually talk with the Palestinian Authority (the official government in the West Bank, led by Mahmoud Abbas). On their part, Hamas officials would have repeated that they wanted "the end of the Zionist state" (Israel) and to continue their struggle "until victory".
France reacted by saying that these accusations were false and that it still considered Hamas a terrorist group, responsible for numerous attacks. It also reminded that it did not want Hamas to be part of the political discussions about the future of Palestine.
What do you think?
Is it normal for a country like France to secretly discuss with a group like Hamas, even if it is to try to find peace?
Some will say that it is necessary to talk to everyone to stop conflicts. On the other hand, others think that discussing with groups that refuse the existence of Israel makes them stronger.
Or do you perhaps think that Israel's objective would simply be to discredit the Élysée, tarnish its image, and torpedo any pro-Palestinian initiative?
