Cyberattack Due to Weak Password Destroys 158-Year-Old British Transport Company ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ’ฅ

The historic British transport company โ€“ KNP โ€“ collapsed after an attack by a hacking program known as Akira ๐Ÿ˜ˆ๐Ÿ’ป.

The attack began with a weak password of one of the employees ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ, where the attackers were able to easily guess it and breach the company's systems ๐Ÿ”’. They then encrypted operational data and halted the work of over 500 trucks ๐Ÿš›๐Ÿ›‘, resulting in a complete shutdown of the company's activities and about 700 employees losing their jobs ๐Ÿ“‰๐Ÿ’”.

According to a BBC Panorama report ๐Ÿ“บ, the hackers left a message saying:

"If you are reading this, it means that your company's infrastructure is completely or partially disabled... shed your tears aside and let's start a constructive dialogue." ๐Ÿ’ฌ๐Ÿ˜ญ

The crisis response team from Solace Global ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ confirmed that all servers, backups, and disaster recovery systems were completely destroyed โŒ๐Ÿ’พ. The average ransom demanded from similar British companies was around ยฃ4 million ($5.4 million) ๐Ÿ’ธ, which is considered normal compared to the scale of losses suffered by the company ๐Ÿ“Š.
