Cyberattack Due to Weak Password Destroys 158-Year-Old British Transport Company 😱💥

The historic British transport company – KNP – collapsed after an attack by a hacking program known as Akira 😈💻.

The attack began with a weak password of one of the employees 🤦‍♂️, where the attackers were able to easily guess it and breach the company's systems 🔒. They then encrypted operational data and halted the work of over 500 trucks 🚛🛑, resulting in a complete shutdown of the company's activities and about 700 employees losing their jobs 📉💔.
According to a BBC Panorama report 📺, the hackers left a message saying:
"If you are reading this, it means that your company's infrastructure is completely or partially disabled... shed your tears aside and let's start a constructive dialogue." 💬😭
The crisis response team from Solace Global 🛡️ confirmed that all servers, backups, and disaster recovery systems were completely destroyed ❌💾. The average ransom demanded from similar British companies was around £4 million ($5.4 million) 💸, which is considered normal compared to the scale of losses suffered by the company 📊.
