🚀 $ERA (zkSync Era)
Using zero-knowledge proofs (ZK), transactions are bundled and submitted to the Ethereum mainnet together, ensuring data security and low costs.
The goal is to allow developers to deploy EVM smart contracts as easily as on L1, enabling painless migration.
The ERA ecosystem is advancing native applications (DeFi, NFT, RWA) and on-chain privacy.
Tokens?
The ERA community expects zkSync to issue tokens (commonly denoted as $ZKS or $ERA), but the issuance plan and governance mechanisms for the tokens are subject to official announcements.
🧩 Vitalik's L2 Vision
Vitalik Buterin has long emphasized:
> "Rollup is the long-term path for Ethereum scaling."
The core ideas are 3 points:
1️⃣ Security:
Rollup must rely on the Ethereum mainnet as the final settlement layer, any data or disputes revert to L1 for assurance.
→ zk-Rollup (like ERA) has stronger cryptographic security in this aspect compared to Optimistic Rollup.
2️⃣ Composability:
The ideal L2 is not just about cheap transactions but also about seamless interaction with other L2s (cross-Rollup atomic swaps, shared liquidity).
3️⃣ User Experience:
End users do not need to know which Rollup they are on, they just need to enjoy "fast + cheap + secure" on-chain operations.
Vitalik particularly emphasizes designs like Account Abstraction and Social Recovery to make it easier for users to manage wallets and signatures.
