Chapter 1. Getting to Know Zunaria
Far beyond Google Maps and the reach of star-navigators lies Zunaria — a planet where, instead of crop ads, they broadcast Mindstream statistics. Each evening the inhabitants (monsters, of course) gather for “star tea,” telepathically sharing the latest memes and swapping recipes for crystal jam.
The cardinal rule of Zunaria is never to speak out loud—otherwise the airwaves get clogged and you’ll have to clean your antennas. No worries, though: all feelings and thoughts pass directly through the Mindstream, and any debate over whose kitty is cooler takes exactly five telepathic seconds.
