Officials said that U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth welcomed billionaire Elon Musk to the Pentagon on Wednesday, marking the second announced visit by the close ally of President Donald Trump to the Department of Defense.
There are a number of contracts between Musk's companies and the department. Musk made his first visit in March.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said in a statement, "The Secretary met with Elon Musk and other members of the AI team at X this morning."
Parnell added, "The Department of Defense is committed to collaborating with CEOs of artificial intelligence companies to ensure that our fighters are equipped to face 21st-century threats.
