An interesting fact about the cryptocurrency XRP is that, unlike most other cryptocurrencies, all 100 billion units of XRP were pre-mined at the time of its creation in 2012. This means that there is no process for mining new coins, and the total supply of XRP is fixed. Ripple Labs, the company behind XRP, owns the majority of these coins and gradually releases a portion of them to the market.
