🟡 The EU demands anonymity… but according to the rules — new proposals for privacy in blockchain
— The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has released a draft of rules aimed at aligning blockchains with GDPR.
— The goal is to protect the personal data of crypto investors without compromising the transparency of DLT networks.
What is being proposed: — Use data anonymization or pseudonymization
— Instead of addresses and IPs — hashes that cannot be linked to a specific person
— All personal information — outside the blockchain, accessible only by permission
Why all this? — To reduce the risks of leaks,
— And to eliminate the conflict between decentralization and privacy in the EU legal framework.
📅 The document is open for discussion until June 9, 2025.
It has also been announced the creation of Europeum — the first "sovereign blockchain" of the EU.
