UN Reveals the Hidden Environmental Impact of Bitcoin
A UN study has revealed that bitcoin mining consumes a significant amount of natural resources. During 2020-2021, the global bitcoin mining network consumed 173.42 terawatt-hours of electricity, equivalent to the energy consumption of countries like Pakistan. Furthermore, the resulting carbon footprint was equivalent to burning 84 billion pounds of coal. These activities also have significant water and land footprints, raising concerns about their environmental sustainability. #BTC
