Last time I compared BTC to gold, but there is one significant difference. If someone loses gold, it can be found by the owner or someone else; gold does not disappear from circulation. However, if someone loses their seed phrase, dies without passing it on to others, or accidentally throws the disk in the trash — that's it. How many similar stories have you read?
In the case of the disk, access can be restored if it is dug up, but the chances of recovering the data are close to zero.
