Pakistan has agreed to hold discussions on the repatriation of assets belonging to pre-independence Bangladesh and to consider a formal apology for the genocide. Speaking to journalists on Thursday afternoon (April 17) following a bilateral secretariesโ€™ meeting, the Foreign Secretary said Bangladesh has requested the return of $4.2 billion in pre-independence assets from Pakistan. Islamabad has shown a willingness to engage in talks on the issue. The matter of 325,000 stranded Pakistanis still residing in Bangladesh was also discussed, including their possible repatriation.
