🇺🇸 Approximately 1.9 million Americans have been exposed to microparticles due to bitcoin mining, according to a report from Nature Communications. The most affected states were New York, Texas, Illinois, and Kentucky.
Researchers collected data from the 34 largest bitcoin farms with a total capacity of 3,910 MW. Between August 2022 and July 2023, the farms consumed a total of 32.5 TWh of electricity, 85% of which was generated from fossil fuels.
