Inflasi sangat tinggi (1998 inflasi >70%). Bank-bank kolaps, kepercayaan pada rupiah hilang. Muncul kerusuhan Mei 1998 yang memperparah instabilitas politik dan ekonomi. --- 🟡 Lonjakan Harga Emas Sebelum krisis, harga emas lokal masih relatif stabil (sekitar Rp 50.000–60.000 per gram). Saat puncak krisis 1998, harga emas melonjak drastis menjadi lebih dari Rp 120.000–140.000 per gram.
