#ETH Ethereum is a decentralized, open-source blockchain platform that enables the creation and execution of smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps). Unlike Bitcoin, which is primarily a digital currency, Ethereum is a programmable blockchain.
It was proposed in late 2013 by Vitalik Buterin, a Russian-Canadian programmer, and launched in July 2015.
Its native cryptocurrency is called Ether (ETH), which is used to pay for transactions and computational services on the network.
