The EU member states on Wednesday (April 9) overwhelmingly approved retaliatory tariffs on US goods.
Out of the 27 EU member states, 26 voted in favor of imposing "rebalancing" tariffs of 10% to 25% on US goods, including tobacco, motorcycles, poultry, steel, and aluminum.
Only Hungary voted against the tariffs.
The European Commission issued a statement after the vote stating: "The EU considers the US tariffs to be unreasonable and destructive, causing economic damage to both sides and to the global economy."
The European Commission also stated that it will continue to seek negotiated solutions with Washington and that if the US agrees to reach a fair negotiated outcome, the EU can suspend its countermeasures at any time. #美国加征关税
