🪙 Nigeria has officially recognized cryptocurrency as a separate asset class by including relevant provisions in the Investments and Securities Act (ISA) 2025. 👨🏾⚖️ The document was signed by the country's President Bola Tinubu. According to the new law, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is now the main regulator of virtual asset service providers (VASPs). In addition, the ISA establishes strict liability for organizing and promoting cryptocurrency pyramid schemes, providing for fines and imprisonment.
