Continuing from the previous story, after the money I invested again went to zero within 24 hours, I really couldn't eat or talk, and I spent the whole day in a daze with a particularly bad temper. Under this state of exhaustion, I lay in bed all day, unable to sleep with the lights off, reflecting on everything and wondering where it all went wrong. "Is it that I’m just not destined to make money? Did following the trade leader affect his ability to make money?"
I decided to take the time to understand it well. Later, after repeated inquiries and summaries, I learned that the person leading the trade has methods to boost the win rate to appear on the homepage. Moreover, if something goes wrong during the boosting process, you can just restart it, and that's it. In the screenshot below, you can see that this trade leader restarted 76 times. If the trade leader experiences a 100% drawdown, they just restart again. If I had known that this leader's trades went to zero so many times, I wouldn't have dared to follow them!
This leader likes to use extremely high leverage, mainly focusing on$ETH , and has created a large group, encouraging everyone to find ways to re-register accounts using his referral code. He promises to give everyone high rebates and pays salaries weekly.
Later, I found out that using such high leverage means extremely high fees, which regular players cannot afford to lose. However, regardless of winning or losing, the rebates from the fees are substantial, far beyond my imagination. According to a screenshot leaked by the leader's assistant, she receives at least 200,000 USDT in rebates every month.
In the end, I simulated following many people and summarized my insights based on one month's data:
1. Historical following trades should not be too high.
2. Leverage should not be too high.
3. For followers, it’s best if the profit, return rate, and longest win-loss duration are all profitable.
4. The higher the Sharpe ratio, the better.
5. Win rate is not too important; 35%-60% can still be profitable.
6. Maximum drawdown should not be too high; too high indicates that the trade leader does not stop losses.
7. Do not choose trades with a lock-in period.
8. Don't follow those who add you to social media groups; they might be making money from you elsewhere. It's okay to chat.
Next time, let's talk about the pitfalls of following various teachers' trades 😂, and I'll tell you how to become a perpetual money-maker.
