What is the Bitcoin Whitepaper?

The foundational document of Bitcoin was first published on October 31, 2008, by Satoshi Nakamoto. The official title of the document is "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System." The project establishes the philosophical and technical principles of the first encrypted digital currency in history, Bitcoin.

Thanks to the technological novelty known as blockchain, this new currency paves the way for a financial revolution. The Whitepaper proposes a digital monetary system without a central authority and based on cryptographic techniques. Additionally, with the blockchain or distributed consensus.

Prior to Bitcoin, other attempts at cryptocurrencies were made, but none were successful. The Bitcoin Whitepaper explains how the mechanism was designed to prevent this new currency from suffering the fate of previous experiments.

This last point is of key importance, given that the document explains the key technical aspects of this revolutionary project. Similarly, its pages break down the fundamental aspects of the philosophy of decentralized cryptocurrencies.
