Before the collapse, Luna - currently represented by the symbol (LUNC) - was one of the top ten cryptocurrencies in the markets and exchanges, reaching a value of $119 per coin. However, it was halted in May 2022 after the collapse of its stablecoin (UST), losing about $45 billion in market value within a week, with the cause of this collapse being a significant drop in the value of Bitcoin. It was relaunched with a new coin called (Terra 2.0). Terra (Terra coin) is a blockchain protocol and payment platform that uses a stable cryptocurrency (UST). The project was created in 2018 by Terraform Labs, a startup co-founded by Do Kwon and Daniel Shin. It has two versions of cryptocurrencies: Luna Classic, represented by the symbol (LUNC), which was issued in 2018, and Luna 2.0, represented by the symbol (LUNA), which was issued after the collapse in 2022.
