Crypto is freedom, but with it comes the responsibility for your safety. Scammers are always on the lookout, so it’s important to know their tricks. Here are the most common scams and how to counter them.
1️⃣ Fake messages from exchanges
“Your account is blocked, urgently confirm your identity!” — if you received such a message supposedly from Binance or another exchange, don’t rush to panic. This is likely phishing.
✅ Check links manually, access exchanges only through the official website.
2️⃣ Scam with seed phrases: “help withdraw money”
This is a relatively new but very popular scheme. You ‘accidentally’ come across a seed phrase from a wallet that supposedly holds a decent sum, but you need a little ETH or TRX for the fee to withdraw. You transfer the money — and it goes straight to the scammers.
✅ Never send funds to suspicious wallets. Free cheese is only found in a mouse trap!
3️⃣ Fake exchangers
Did you find an exchanger with a super favorable rate? Check it twice! Scammers create sites that accept your crypto, but send nothing in return.
✅ Check reviews on BestChange and other trusted platforms.
4️⃣ False arbitrage
The scheme looks like this: buy crypto here, sell there — and you will definitely earn! In reality, either one of the exchanges is fake, or withdrawing money is simply impossible.
✅ If someone promises ‘risk-free’ arbitrage — it’s a scam.
5️⃣ Phishing sites and fake applications
Clones of exchanges and wallets look almost like the original, but as soon as you enter your login and password, scammers gain access to your account.
✅ Before entering your account, check the URL, download apps only from official sources.
6️⃣ ‘Gift’ tokens and fraudulent airdrops
Did you suddenly find unknown tokens in your wallet? Most likely, this is a trap. As soon as you try to exchange them, your wallet may get hacked.
✅ Do not interact with suspicious tokens. Verify airdrops before participating.
7️⃣ Pseudo-investment funds
If someone promises you guaranteed passive income, an elite VIP channel with insider information, and X10 in a month — run!
✅ Real investments require analysis and risk. There are no miracles.
What to do if you were scammed?
🚨 Urgently transfer remaining funds to a secure wallet.
🚨 Report to the exchange or wallet support if you shared your information.
🚨 Warn others so that scammers cannot deceive anyone else.
