On March 17 local time, Slovak Prime Minister Fico expressed Slovakia's position on the Russia-Ukraine ceasefire negotiations during a meeting with ambassadors from EU countries stationed in Slovakia. Fico clearly stated that Slovakia would not participate in any military actions in Ukraine, nor would it provide military aid funding, but supports further joint negotiations with Ukraine on mutually beneficial projects. Fico emphasized that Slovakia will continue to promote diplomatic solutions to restore the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine. He also reiterated that closing this transit route would make Europe less competitive.
