OpenSea: Can you first tell us your name and briefly introduce yourself?
RalenArc: I am RalenArc, and I have been engaged in artistic creation for over 16 years. My artistic journey began with physical art; I love exploring different artistic mediums such as oil painting, murals, and clay. Later, I discovered generative art, and the idea that we can create art with code truly fascinates me.
I started improving my skills, practicing new techniques every day. My experience in physical art has helped me a lot as I create different types of textures, organic shapes, and patterns.
OpenSea: You have been creating art for a long time, but only recently ventured into generative art. When did you start exploring the world of NFTs and web3?
RalenArc: I initially discovered NFTs through social media, and from that moment, I started exploring how to sell and mint my works. In 2021, I released my first 1/1 generative art NFT, followed by a collection on OpenSea. I love the idea that people around the world can collect and resonate with my art.
OpenSea: Can you tell us about your creative process?
RalenArc: My inspiration comes from my surroundings, the places I have visited, and my experiences. I always start with sketches as references. Whenever I begin an art project, I browse through my sketches to see which elements I can select to create a pleasing composition. Then, I refer to these sketches and start creating my artwork with code.
Sometimes when I start a project, many ideas come to mind. Other times I go to a new place and see something amazing that I can incorporate into my artwork. I also use a lot of textures; my work is definitely inspired by textures, organic forms, and organic shapes.
OpenSea: What tools and platforms do you use to create generative art?
RalenArc: I use p5.js, which is a JavaScript library. I started using p5.js to explore new techniques in generative art, and I think it's an excellent creative tool.
OpenSea: After completing a piece, do you often go back for adjustments, or do you feel it is finished?
RalenArc: It depends on the artwork itself. Sometimes I can feel when it’s complete and ready to be minted, other times I feel something is missing, and I will continue to add elements and make adjustments until it feels right and I am satisfied with the final composition. Many of my works go through several iterations before completion.

OpenSea: You created a community painting at the St. George Hall in Marfa. How is that going? What was your inspiration?
RalenArc: I wanted to try something different, so I came up with the idea of involving everyone, as Marfa is a community-centered event, and people love coming here. I discussed this idea with the Art Blocks team, and they thought it was great and supported it.
Then I thought, 'What can I do to make this painting stand out?' So I made a clay frame and added textures to the canvas, allowing attendees to choose a block and fill it with their own colors and patterns. It was amazing to see people so excited to create their own art, and I was very pleased with everyone's contributions.
OpenSea: Do you have any plans for where this painting will go?
RalenArc: I just spoke with the Art Blocks team, and they can decide what to do with the canvas. It depends on them because I feel this is a community canvas and should belong to the Art Blocks community.
OpenSea: That's amazing! When you first entered the web3 space, was there a project or artist that inspired you?
RalenArc: There are many; I can't just name one. When I first started, I saw many different types of artists showcasing their work, and it was amazing to witness the growth of this community and the diversity of artistic styles, which truly inspired me.
OpenSea: How do you think the future web3 community and even generative art will evolve?
RalenArc: The future looks bright; more and more collectors and artists are starting to embrace generative art, and we are seeing an increasing number of companies interested in it. This is an exciting time, and the future of generative art is promising.
OpenSea: Do you have any upcoming projects you can share?
RalenArc: For my future projects, I want to combine my physical art with generative art. I am working on this, but I haven't decided when to release it yet.
OpenSea: Will it be realized in 2025?
RalenArc: Yes, I have started working on this, and it is still an ongoing process.
OpenSea: I will keep an eye out! Where can people find you and your artwork?
RalenArc: My username is RalenArc, and my website is ralenarc.com, where you can browse my works. Additionally, I will be launching a newsletter to share my creative process, sneak peeks of upcoming works, collector perks, and more.
