Uniswap Labs Announces Mainnet Launch of Unichain

The company behind the decentralized exchange of the same name, Uniswap Labs, has announced the mainnet launch of the second-layer solution Unichain. The organization positions this solution as a “home for DeFi and cross-chain liquidity.”

Recall that Unichain is an L2 network based on the OP Stack, a modular infrastructure from Optimism. The project was announced in October 2024, after which it was stated that it would be launched in early 2025.

One of the features of the network is a mechanism for checking erroneous transactions without the need for prior permission (Permissionless Fault Proofs). It is aimed at increasing security, since all participants will be able to verify and question the execution of potentially fraudulent or erroneous transactions.

Like other second-layer solutions, Unichain is focused on reducing transaction costs and increasing the speed of transaction processing. More than 80 different applications and infrastructure providers have already been deployed based on the blockchain.
