From REKT to Semi-SAFU: Alexey Pertsev trades bars for an ankle monitor while his legal battle pumps more than a memecoin 🔓💪

What's up degenetraders! 🔥 I'm bringing you the latest gossip from the crypto space that's on FIRE...

Do you remember the Tornado Cash dev who was more REKT than a holder after the dump? Well, Alexey Pertsev finally comes out of the gulag! 🎉

But watch out bro 👀, this is not a complete "GG EZ"... The guy comes out with an ankle monitor more stuck than an NFT to his wallet. As my aunt would say: "Half freedom is not freedom" but hey, better outside than inside, right?

The story is longer than a bear market:

  • They caught him in 2022 (F in the chat)

  • He was convicted for supposedly laundering $7B (more money than all our portfolios combined x1000 😅)

  • They gave him 64 months in prison (NGMI)

But here comes the good part fam... 🚀 A court in the US has already said that smart contracts are UNCHANGEABLE and cannot be considered "property". It's like saying you can't blame the dev for what users do... Or do we blame Satoshi every time someone buys shady stuff with BTC?

And do you know what's the most BULLISH? 📈 Pertsev is appealing his case both in the Netherlands and in the USA. The guy is doing more crosschain than a Layer 2 bridge.

For the newcomers: Tornado Cash was basically the most famous mixer for ETH. Like a CEX but without KYC and with more privacy than a Monero maxi at an SEC conference.

TLDR: Dev comes out of jail with restrictions, but the legal battle continues. Code is neutral and devs shouldn't go to jail for writing it.
