👔 Tornado Cash co-founder to challenge procedural violations in his case in the US Supreme Court
Tornado Cash cryptocurrency service co-founder Roman Storm has asked the US Supreme Court to stay the enforcement of a ruling by the Southern District of New York requiring him to disclose a list of potential expert witnesses before the trial begins.
The basis for the motion was the probable abuse of power by the trial court, which ordered the defense to disclose information about witnesses without a corresponding request from the defense itself, which violates established procedural rules
Recall that in August 2023, the US Department of Justice charged Roman Storm and another crypto mixer developer, Roman Semenov, with money laundering and sanctions violations. Storm was subsequently released on bail, and his lawyers filed a motion to dismiss all charges. The defense noted that the claims of the US authorities represent "an unprecedented attempt to criminalize software development."
