From November 2023, some Telegram users will have access to the TON wallet. The founder of the project, Pavel Durov, spoke about this.
The exception is the United States and “certain other countries.” According to Durov, TON Wallet is already in the “Options” tab when connecting the wallet application using the @wallet command.
“This move will allow developers to introduce hundreds of new features similar to those introduced by Fragment. TON Wallet, the third small application added to Telegram, will open up a new part of Web 3.0 for hundreds of millions of users,” he said.
We are talking about the sale of nicknames and identifiers in Telegram, which occurred in October 2022. To do this, the application is connected to a platform based on the TON blockchain called Fragments.
Later, Durov said that he intended to add wallets and exchanges to the messenger.
According to him, the integration of TON Wallet is part of this plan. Earlier, Telegram added support for another wallet - TON Space. Like TON Wallet, it looks like a different bot. In February 2023, the task force published a roadmap. Among other things, it talks about the TON Connect cross-chain protocol.
