When I first started to learn about memes, I kept hearing this:

Speaking of MEME, the word Meme is pronounced /ˈmiːm/ (米姆). Its etymology is the ancient Greek word mimema, which means something produced by imitation. The dictionary defines it as: an idea, behavior or style that spreads in a culture. It comes from "The Selfish Gene". The essence of meme is repetition and replication, which is the same as the way genes transmit biological information. Its success lies in the effect of being copied and spread, surviving and evolving, and those with strong adaptability will eventually stay. Therefore, the mortality rate/failure rate will be very high.
Meme is consensus.
Some people say that meme coins are of low value. How do you define value? Are shells of high value? Didn't the ancients use them as currency? To put it bluntly, currency or investment targets and their value are nothing more than consensus. When their value is recognized enough and the community is unified enough, what is the difference between memes and fan circle cards?
Therefore, the strongest point of meme is the ability to tell stories, which is its marketing team. First, let its original believers form a strong support circle. From the wealth-creating effect to the fomo of retail investors who are unaware of the truth, its value has been further raised. At this time, if there are big Vs such as Musk to support it, well, it will take off. People are afraid of missing out on similar skyrocketing targets of hundreds or thousands of times again, and the wealth-creating effect has a strong cycle.
Let me tell you about two MEME coins that I like.

Popcat originated from a website called "Popcat Click" and was developed by a group of programmers and designers. The game was inspired by a cat called "Oatmeal" who went viral on the Internet with videos of the cat opening its mouth in surprise.

The lowest price of Bonk (BONK) was $0.00000008614, recorded on December 29, 2022. The highest price was recorded in May 2024, reaching $0.000045470. In comparison, the current price is 7,489.7% higher than a year ago.
My opinion on MEME
To sum up, I am still very optimistic about meme, especially at this juncture where it is not yet clear whether it will be a good thing or not. There are several reasons for this:
First of all, memes use their humorous and easily spreadable characteristics to form a strong community consensus through their stories, images, and propositions.
Then, the wealth-creating effect attracted people inside and outside the circle. People may not know what blockchain technology is, but they must know Dogecoin. So it is definitely the first target to break the circle and attract new funds.
The so-called web3 breaking the circle, breaking the circle, and creating a bunch of applications are really not as powerful as the meme ecosystem breaking the circle. Just talking about the two things that brought the most traffic to the web3 circle this year: one is airdrops, and the other is memes. Looking at this alone, memes have made a significant contribution to web3.
Secondly, meme's open and transparent governance model gives coin holders more decision-making power and participation, further expanding their consensus and belief. The so-called 100% community pattern, look at the insider trading of zksync and other projects, which are all in turmoil. Since what is created is the value of dream-making, meme's speculation is actually more fair.
