Lido Earn has added a new source of capital to absorb losses in its ETH and stablecoin vaults before depositors bear them. From November 5, Firelight sits ahead of the Lido DAO’s existing protection for EarnETH and EarnUSD. These vaults put deposits into curated DeFi strategies. If an eligible loss is approved, Firelight pays first, within the limits agreed for that 30-day period. Remaining losses can then be absorbed by burning the DAO’s own shares in the affected vault. That second step uses a different rule: once a vault loss of at least 1% of its total value is confirmed, the DAO’s Growth Committee can burn up to all of the DAO-held shares. Those shares belong to the DAO, not to other depositors. For a depositor, both layers operate at the vault level. Lido says there is no individual compensation request to file. Firelight’s protection follows specified markets, however: moving a vault position into a new market mid-period does not extend cover until a later period includes it. The new layer covers defined protocol failures, not ordinary price declines or liquidations at accurate prices. Its payout also depends on available capital at settlement. Neither layer guarantees that depositors will avoid losses. Sources: Lido’s November 5, 2026 announcement and Firelight’s cover scope, checked November 7. https://blog.lido.fi/lido-earn-introducing-two-layers-of-loss-protection/ https://docs.firelight.finance/resources/cover-scope #Lido #DeFi

Lido Earn is adding a buffer for depositors: starting November 5, EarnETH / EarnUSD will have two layers of loss protection. The first layer is Firelight (incubated by Sentora and built on Flare): it absorbs eligible losses first during each 30-day period—initially covering about 5.7% of EarnETH TVL and 8% of EarnUSD TVL (around $12.1 million / $4 million at current scale). Coverage includes smart contract vulnerabilities, oracle / governance attacks, and bad debt, depegging, or failed redemptions caused by the protocol’s own mechanisms; normal market fluctuations and liquidations are not covered. The second layer is still Lido DAO’s own position (around $3 million in wstETH for EarnETH and around $2 million in USDC for EarnUSD): once a single-vault loss of ≥1% of TVL is confirmed, up to 100% of the DAO’s shares can be burned to absorb losses before ordinary depositors do. Depositors don’t need to apply themselves; both layers take effect automatically at the vault level. Protection only applies within the limits, and risk is still risk—it just means there’s a buffer in place when losses hit. $LDO #Lido #DeFi

🥩 $LDO STAKING SHOWDOWN: TWO EXCHANGES IN FOUR DAYS IS ALREADY A PATTERN Four days after the Binance hack, Mercado Bitcoin halts withdrawals over an incident of its own. To me, the sequence is the message: this is no longer an isolated case; it’s a weekly pattern, and staking, which depends on trust in custody, feels it first. Look at the detail nobody is seeing: → Mercado Bitcoin gave no reopening time: its teams are still working to safely restore operations, with deposits and withdrawals halted while the investigation is underway. → LDO -3.3% with $10.7M: it’s falling sharply, but less than $AAVE (-4.8%), while $UNI (+0.5%) stays in the green among DeFi: staking is suffering, but the sector isn’t falling across the board. → Entry $0.33270–$0.33470, SL $0.33590, TP1 $0.32861 (-1.5%) → TP2 $0.32640 (-2.2%). Why Whales Don’t Sell : The Multi-Billion Dollar Collateral Play Behind LidoRetail is still waiting for whales to dump their bags. Here is the reality: the ultra-wealthy don’t sell their crypto for fiat. That triggers massive capital gains taxes. Instead, they live by a simple Wall Street rule: "Buy, borrow, never sell." Look at traditional finance right now. Cantor Fitzgerald launched a $2B Bitcoin and crypto financing facility backed by institutional custodians like Anchorage Digital. JPMorgan is structuring loans directly against client-held BTC and ETH. The institutional playbook is clear: pledge your crypto, borrow cash, and keep your upside intact. Now here is where $ETH has an unfair advantage over $BTC. Bitcoin is dead collateral. If you pledge BTC, you pay the full borrowing interest out of pocket. Pledge Lido’s stETH, however, and you are using yield-bearing collateral. The staking rewards (~2.3% APR) automatically offset your borrowing cost. Wall Street loves the Treasury repo market for this exact reason: holding collateral that pays you while securing a loan. And who sits at the center of this machine? Lido. With over $22.8B in TVL and a 56%+ monopoly on liquid staking, $LDO governs the de facto sovereign collateral of DeFi. The protocol already pulls roughly $1.4M in fees daily. Once regulatory clarity opens the door for DAO fee-switches and buybacks, the valuation disconnect will be hard to ignore. Smart money doesn't cash out. Lido’s 0x02 CSM is officially live (csm.lido.fi). Previously, managing around 2,048 ETH in stake meant running 64 keys with 32 ETH each. Now, permissionless operators can post a 32–30 ETH bond to run a single validator through CSM with a maximum effective balance of 2,048 ETH, for an approximate capital multiplier of 2.18–2.26x compared with solo staking. Running alongside the original 0x01 CSM, the initial allocation is just 0.01% of Lido Core TVL (seeding around 32 keys). The process uses two queues—seed deposit → activation → then top-up—with capacity gradually increasing afterward. The permissionless path for Ethereum validators just got a little wider. $LDO #Lido #ETH

Moving to a new wallet while a Lido withdrawal is pending? The withdrawal claim is a separate asset to account for. When you request ETH back through Lido using stETH, its liquid staking token, the protocol issues an unstETH NFT. This non-fungible token represents your place in the withdrawal queue and the right to claim the ETH once the request is finalized. Lido's contract documentation says that right belongs to the NFT's current owner. Transferring the NFT transfers ownership of the withdrawal request. Moving other tokens to a new address leaves this claim with the address that still holds the NFT. For a wallet move, include the withdrawal NFT in the asset inventory and verify which address owns it. Finalization makes the ETH claimable; it doesn't automatically send it to the wallet. The owner still has to claim, and that claim burns the NFT. Source: Lido's existing WithdrawalQueueERC721 documentation. https://docs.lido.fi/contracts/withdrawal-queue-erc721/ #Ethereum #Lido
